Juana Azurduy Integration Gas Pipeline joins together the countries of Bolivia and Argentina. The total length of the gas pipeline is 42 Km long.
In Bolivian territory, the gas pipeline begins in the proximities of Yacuiba and it extends over a distance of 12 Km to the border, with a nominal diameter of Ø32″.
In Argentine territory, the work comprises the construction of a gas pipeline of a nominal diameter of Ø 30″, which total length is 30 Km. The Juana Azurduy Gas Pipeline (Argentine section) begins near the Argentina-Bolivia border, in the province of Salta and it ends at the Campo Durán Compressor Plant. At this location, the receiving trap and the Separation and Measurement Plant of gas imported from Bolivia were placed, and the gas is further injected to the existing gas transportation system.
The connection with the Bolivian section is achieved through a bypass that connects the receiving trap in Bolivian territory to the launching station in Argentine territory.
At the kilometric progressive 17, the branch for the GNEA (Argentine Northeast Gas Pipeline) is located, by means of two valves of Ø24″. At the Argentine side, the gas pipeline operates with a pressure of 75.5 kg/cm2, while at the Bolivian side, the operation pressure is 98 kg/cm2.
For the purpose of complying with the power demand during the coldest months of the year, an agreement with Chile was executed to import Gas.
»Between 5/17 and 8/15, 316.8 million m3 of gas were imported.
»This led to the replacement of 350,000 m3 of Gas Oil import, meaning an important saving for the Argentina.
